Theodore Fuller is the author of The Secret Taboo: Homophobia in Black America (Wasteland, $12 pb). Homophobia hurts everybody in the black community. This book serves to enlighten others regarding the etiology of homophobia, its historical development in the black community and its negative impact. Furthermore, it helps in breaking the homophobic stigma. Above all, the author hopes that it may be a baby step towards breaking the homosexual taboo regardless of sexual orientation. It liberates the fear and ignorance about homosexuals held by "straights" and enriches their lives and encourages black gays and lesbians of all ages to embrace their sexual orientation and come out to themselves or in their community.
